Happy Tail: Lucy
Dear Heavenly Hearts,
I am writing to you to update you on a little girl that you knew as Hope, now named Lucy (photo attached). My wife and I adopted her through Janet in New Berlin about 3 years ago. My first seeing her was by accident. We had just lost our other dog, a Dalmatian, due to an unexpected illness and was checking Dalmatian rescues on the web to make a donation. Your rescue was listed as a link and I decided to take a look, lo and behold who’s face popped up but Hope’s. I instantly fell for the little girl and showed her picture to my wife. Less than 1 month after loosing our Dalmatian we were adopting Hope.
We have come to realize that she needed us as much as we needed her. Hope now Lucy has become the good will ambassador to the neighborhood. Everyone she meets instantly falls in love with her, she has many play friends in the neighborhood and at the local dog park. She loves to travel and enjoys going up north with us In essence she is doing well and is very happy and healthy. Thank you for bringing us together.
Forever grateful,
Richard and Margaret Menzel

Happy Tail: Sophie
I just wanted to send a few new pictures of Sophie.
We adopted her two years ago.
We thought about changing her name but the name Sophie just seemed to fit.
She is such a great dog and a very loved and loyal member of the family.
Sophie loves to follow her nose around the yard, I guess it’s that Pointer blood thats in her.
We could not have asked for a better dog.
Thank you,
Ryan, Sarah, Alex, and Evan Dewing

Happy Tail: Macie May
Hi Heavenly Hearts! It’s Macie May Rippentrop (formerly Rosemary of the ‘Lucky Puppies’ group). Happy Birthday to me and all my siblings! I wanted to send you an update. Mommy will help me…
Hi. It is hard to believe that our Macie May will turn 2 years old! She has given us such joy and we feel so lucky to have her in our lives. Macie May is doing very well. She continues to be a happy healthy little girl. She enjoys playtime outside with daily walks, squirrel and deer chasing, playing catch with tennis balls, and wrestling with her brother Jack (lab/healer mix). Inside, she loves to cuddle, play with stuffed animals, and sit on her couch and watch out the window. She is such a pretty dog and very loving and sweet. Thanks again for all you have done on her behalf. We love her.
We hope all the Lucky Puppies are doing well.
Thanks for all you do.

Happy Tail: Tucker
Attached you will see a few pictures of big brother, Tucker (formerly Basil). He is absolutely in love with his 9 month old sister, Lilian. He continues to do well. At his last check-up, he was close to 70 pounds, which makes him one of the bigger “lucky pups.” We were curious and decided to have him genetically tested last year (just using one of the cheek swab kits from Pet Smart), and here were the results:
Intermediate Breeds (at least 25%): Shiba Inu, Spinone Italiano, & Australian Shepherd
Minor Breeds (at least 12.5%): Dogue de Bordeaux (although this breed was detected at a lower confidence)
The Australian Shepherd did not surprise us, but the other three breeds did, as well as the fact that no Retriever (Golden or Labrador) showed up. In the end, he probably is a one of king Heinz 57 dog that we would never find again!
We can’t imagine our lives without him and will be forever grateful to Heavenly Hearts for bringing him to Wisconsin. So, in honor of his second birthday, we wanted to say thank you, again!
Have a great rest of the week,
Curt, Amanda, Lily, & Tucker Christian Smile

Happy Tail: Tyler
In a few weeks it’ll be three years since Tyler entered our lives. What a dog! He’s such a part of our family we just don’t know what we did before we adopted him. He loves his daily walks and frequent runs at the dog park, but if you throw a ball and tell him to fetch it he’ll just look at you as if wondering why, if you wanted the ball, you threw it in the first place. He’s a tracker and hunter, not a fetcher, and he’s amazing to watch. He leaps straight up in the air like a coyote or kit fox when he zeroes in on something of interest. Wish we had a dollar for every time someone has stopped us to tell us what a beautiful, great dog he is. He is so sweet and loving and he frequently makes us laugh — we were so fortunate to have adopted such a wonderful boy. He’s just a fabulous dog and we thank Heavenly Hearts for rescuing Tyler in Kentucky three years ago and bringing him up here to his new home in Wisconsin. Thank you Heavenly Hearts and thank you Petfinder for bringing us together with the best dog in the world. Happy Homecoming, Tyler!
