Happy Tail: Chip

Hello Heavenly Hearts,
Chip and all of us are doing fine. He is getting kinda chubby! I think I need to think about cutting back his treats! He is so cute. He has been a real trooper in this cold. He still has to have his walks no matter what because he just does not understand that he can “go potty” in the yard!

My friend Laura got a yellow lab this past fall and they are fast friends. I have included some pictures of both of them. Laura’s dog is Diesel and Chip is jealous of him sometimes. When Diesel comes over Chip will do everything he can to get between him and who ever Diesel is trying to say hi to. We call it the “Chip block.” We think he’s saying “Hey! I was here first!” Chip tries to “herd” Diesel like he a sheep. That must be the border collie. They are a lot of fun to watch. It’s been great getting to know Chip. I have never had a dog like him before. He has a very different personality than my labs! We love him so much.

Happy Tail: Simon

Hello Heavenly Hearts,
We adopted Simon in November and he has adapted so well to our home. He is a wonderful addition and we love him with all our hearts. He loves the snow and plows thru it with his face like a bulldozer!! He chewed our daughter’s glasses the second night he was with us!!..but we’ve forgiven him for that. He probably thought they might help his dry eye condition. His “dry eyes” are handling the drops well.

He loves people and everyone that meets him is so impressed with his good behavior. He spends time with Jake, our son’s Springer Spaniel (a 72 pounder!), and our granddaughter’s border collie.

Our thanks to all of you at Heavenly Hearts for the wonderful work you do, and to Gressi, Simon’s foster mom, for taking such good care of him. He’s the best.

Happy Tail: Maddie

Dear Heavenly Hearts,
Maddie (formerly JuJu Bee, one of the lab -mix pups born in April) is now tipping the scales at 57lbs. It’s hard to believe she is growing up so fast! She is doing great though and brings us a lot of joy and fun. She absolutely loves the snow and plays outside every chance she gets. Last Monday she graduated from obedience class. She was of course the star of the class or maybe I should say class clown. One of our first nights they had us walk our dogs around the room. Over to the side on one wall there was a big box of stuffed animals and toys. Of course who is the only one who has to grab a stuffed animal as we walk pass – you guessed it none other than Maddie. Despite her funniness she really did great in the class and the instructors really enjoyed her. We received so many compliments about what a great temperament she has and that she was such a good dog for being so young. She learned to sit and stay, down, heeling, wait and many other things that will be very helpful. For being the youngest in the class she was far ahead of many of the other dogs. Besides the good things she’s learned in class she also has learned how to break out of her kennel and how to get the bottom tray out so she can walk the kennel around the room and grab random things off the couch and chair to chew on – she’s too smart for her own good. We now have the bottom of the kennel pad locked so she can’t kick the tray out and we check the kennel every time we leave to make sure all clasps are secure. Never a dull moment with her :) Regardless I wouldn’t trade her for the world. She is great to have around and we truly enjoy her no matter what antics she is up to.

I hope her brothers and sisters are all doing well and we would love to see a Happy Tail from them too! I hope her mom is good too – make sure to tell her hi from Maddie :)

Happy Tail: Teddy

Hello!
We adopted Teddy (born as Rollo) in June of 2008 from a foster home in Waukesha. He was one of a litter of ten pups. Teddy is such a ball of energy, is smart and has made a difference in my life! I walk him twice a day, 1/2 hour at a time, and my cholesterol has dropped more than 20 points from June to November. (My husband gives him his 3rd walk daily.) I really credit Teddy for keeping me motivated to walk. He makes my kids laugh every day with his antics.

Thank you for the gift of Teddy.

Happy Tail: Ruby

Hi!
We adopted Ruby-a yellow lab mix in May 2007 and we just wanted to let you know that she continues to be a wonderful addition to our home. We have just been busy and have not been able to write with an update in a while. She now joins 4 little girls in our family. We had our 4th and last daughter on 6/19/08. Ruby has been wonderful with our girls who range in age from 8 years down to 6 months.

I am sending a couple pictures from last Halloween when she was dressed up as an angel. She went trick or treating that way
with all of the kids, as you can see. I will try to send a separate email with a couple more pictures of her at home to try to show you how happy she is…

Thanks again!

Cathy and Andy and the girls
