Happy Tail: Morgan
Thought I’d give you an update on Morgan. She is fantastic! It will be four months on July 3rd that Morgan entered our home and hearts.
On June 4th we started the adult beginners dog training class at For Pet’s Sake in Mukwonago. Morgan knew the ‘sit’ and ‘down’ … but not to stay sitting nor staying down. She also pulled at walking. She has been an excellent student and quickly learned to “talk” to us when she wants to go out on the leash to walk or do homework by going to where her leash is hung by the door and then back to Paul or me, then back to leash, giving it a nose nudge, then back to one of us again. If we don’t react, then she lays on the floor with her nose aimed at the leash!
We go to vet one more time next week for her left ear checkup, as he wanted to make sure after two months it didn’t redevelop. She actually has let me put in the ear drops without too much fuss now, once she realized she’d get a treat afterwords. Still, I can’t keep her still for me to look inside ear.
She has loved sniffing out all sorts of things outside here … and has learned the hard way the “leave it” command when it comes to the American toads that we have around here. Twice she tried to either pick it up or just touched it with her mouth and found out it has a defense oil toad releases that most critters can’t stand! Morgan can smell those toads, though, but when she tracks it down, she just watches it now!!
Morgan is also getting use to our cat’s meows and headrubs to Morgan. Each morning and sometimes throughout the day, our cat, Sven, wants to be near Morgan. Morgan now will even give Sven a gentle lick on the head at times.
Thank you for opening your heart and home to fostering Morgan until her forever home with us. We sure do love her.
Karen
